Inexpensive Fabric

7.29.2010

You may remember from this post when I had first discovered Premier Prints Fabric. They are out of Mississippi and now have a store in my hometown of Meridian. I went in there last weekend and spent some time looking around.
.
I wanted to do another post on Premier Prints because:
1- I get a lot of emails asking about places to look for affordable fabric
2- They have come out with some great new designs in the past few months.
3- And the best things is... all of their fabrics are just $9.99/yd.

Junk Stores

7.27.2010

Last weekend I shopped around my hometown with my mom and aunt. We went to a couple of antique malls/flea markets/junk stores.
.
I found this campaign dresser while we were shopping. I bought it.
.Although I don't know why. I guess because it was so cheap and I love a good before and after. These images below are inspiring my makeover. I might use it in my home office or give it to my mom to use in her house (which we are in the process of updating).

Upcoming CSN Stores Review

7.26.2010

I'm excited to do a review for CSN Stores! CSN Stores has over 200 different stores to choose from and over 1 million items, including beautiful dining room tables, children's furniture, and cookware.

I love the search functions on their website. You can limit your search by the normal price, specs, etc. but you can also narrow your search by shipping dates, etc. So many possibilities.

I can't wait to show you the item that I chose to review from
CSN Stores. I'm excited about adding it to the perfect spot in my living room! Stay tuned...

well, well, well...

7.22.2010

That was my thought when I first found out that it has been mass produced. I scoured the internet looking for a vintage laundry cart as you may remember from this post last week. I found one on Etsy and was so excited to receive it and put it in the nursery. I LOVE it.
.
But I've had several of you email to ask if I had seen any more and where you might could find one.
.
Ashley emailed to let me know that Pottery Barn now has them.... and I thought to myself- of course they do. So here it is if you are interested (but I still support the idea of buying from an Etsy seller or local store if you can find it there).... but if you have to have one- Pottery Barn has it.
Their price is $129 (and one plus is that it comes with the liner). Go here.

A Night Away

7.19.2010

Michael and I were able to sneak away for a night to New Orleans this past weekend. It was such a treat to have a night to hang out with dear friends over good food and wine! A special thanks to my mom and sister for keeping Collins while we were away.

We stayed at the Windsor Court Hotel. It was so nice and such a treat.
.

We ate dinner at Upperline and our meal was wonderful. I can't say enough about it. And not only was the food great but the restaurant is known for it's artwork by local artists that covers every inch of the interior walls. Visit the original site here and the newest website here.
.
. .
We ended the night at the Carousel Bar that is in the Hotel Monteleone in the Quarter.
.
.
Saturday we spent the day shopping on Magazine Street and eating (of course). A couple of photos from the weekend.
..

.
And while we were away- Collins had a playdate in Meridian with his girlfriend, Olivia. She belongs to one of my very best friends from growing up. Michelle and I are 4 weeks apart and our two little ones are a little over 3 weeks apart!

Caldwell Flake

7.14.2010

I love that I live in a town that overflows with talent. There are so many great designers and architects that live and work in Birmingham, Alabama.

For those you who may not be familiar with Caldwell Flake- I thought I would introduce you to some of their work.

I love that there is a little bit of everything. A little bit of color and pattern for some... as well as some neutral and calm for others.

Vintage Laundry Cart

7.12.2010

I was recently in my favorite shop in my hometown (Plant the Earth) and saw one of these vintage laundry carts. I asked Liz if it was for sale- and of course it was not!
.
After looking around online I found one on Etsy in this shop. I was so excited to receive it in the mail today. I immediately set it up in the corner of Collins' room.
.
*you can see the rest of his nursery here.
.

I am going to use it to hold Collins' toys, etc. And I want to make a liner for it out of one of these fabrics from Hawthorne Threads:
..

*I've seen both in person and they aren't quite as bright as they appear in these photos.
.
And since it's been awhile since I've posted a photo- I had to slip one in of this little boy that melts my heart!
.

a few favorites...

7.09.2010

A few things that I've loved lately from some of my favorite blogs:
..
This bedroom redo from Tracery Interiors:
.
.
Julie's backsplash in her kitchen....
.
as well as this is part of her house (do you read her blog? if not, I recommend it)...

a display for her jewelry that she has in a store in her area:
.
.
This vase of flowers that belong to
Carlee.
She was so clever to add the Ikea wrapping paper to the vase for a little something extra.
.
I hope you have a great weekend!
